Thoughts & Inspiration

I’ve struggled to write a blog for the last few weeks, I haven’t been inspired or honestly I haven’t been quite sure what to share. Things have continued to be amazing, but also they seem to be the same as the last time I posted.

But yesterday, I was able to witness something so beautiful, which not only convicted me to take advantage of the blessings God has given me, but also inspired me to share with you all.

I had the opportunity to help deliver a Bible to an elderly Nicaraguan woman yesterday. She has trouble seeing, but in Nicaragua had no access to get a large print Bible in Spanish. This being said, she has been without a Bible for a very long time. An intern at the ministry here ordered her a large print Bible, and we went to surprise her with it.

It was about a half hour walk up a mountain to her house, but what I got to see made it all worth it. When our sweet friend saw the Bible and opened it and realized she could read it, she began worshipping the Lord, thanking him, crying. She was unable to contain her joy and tears, and she wasn’t able to stop reading it. Through the time we spent with her, she would randomly begin crying again and thanking God for her gift. I have never seen someone so excited and joyful to receive a Bible in my life, which made me realize how much we take the Bible for granted.

Some people here don’t have Bibles, or can’t read, and others are just older and struggle to see. They rely solely on others teaching them. Whereas, in America we have the literal, alive Word of God at our finger tips. Always accesible to us. We have apps where we can listen to it, at least five Bibles in our homes to read from, and so many more ways to here the Word of God.

I want to have the same heart posture as this dear woman, understanding and knowing the privilege it is to own a Bible. I want to worship the Lord and thank him as I read it. This is a memory I will hold onto forever. Most of us have grown up having a Bible and taking it for granted, because we’ve never been without it, but this woman knew what it was like to be without and she knew even more the value of having this book.

She told us this was the best gift she had ever received in her life. My prayer for myself, and for all of you this week would be this:

“Lord, I pray we dont take you and your blessings and provisions for granted. Let us understand the privilege of having your Word, and let us rejoice in it. Let us find joy in your Word, and let us have grateful hearts as we read your Word. Thank you God for all you do!”

I pray all of you have a wonderful week, and that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Love you all!
